The provider Light & Wonder has abandoned the live casino format, so now the American live casino market is represented by only two companies: Evolution and Playtech.

Following a strategic evaluation, Light & Wonder announced that it would shut down and sell off its live casino operations. The US land-based and iGaming powerhouse claimed that this demonstrated its dedication to directing resources into the areas of the company that would have the biggest effects and where it could expect to see significant returns on investment.

It’s now certain that Evolution and Playtech will be the only two live casino suppliers in the US following Light & Wonder’s departure from the vertical, which was revealed on its Q4 (2024) earnings call.

Live Casino Pricing Becomes Light & Wonder’s Stumbling Stone

The category’s strategic evaluation revealed shifts in the dynamics of the operator and supply, which led to certain price declines.

Although Light & Wonder acknowledged that leaving the live casino would eliminate some of the iGaming addressable market, they maintained that the vertical’s final share was lower than what the company had initially projected. To spur growth on the online side, Light & Wonder will instead concentrate on first-person perspective (1PP) content, aggregation, and monetization solutions.

October 2023 is when Light & Wonder and Authentic Gaming jointly introduced their live casino games.
